Would you give up your kidney?

Most of us would say yes to helping someone we love who needs a kidney. So why do so few of us ever get asked? A new Staten Island program trains the people around a patient to start the conversation and to stay close until the very end.

“A Mayo Clinic survey found that 84% of people would consider donating a kidney to a friend or family member, yet they are rarely asked effectively. Additionally, most people who initially volunteer to donate do not complete the process from screening to surgery, according to the organizations.”
