Soli Deo Gloria (S-8 Days)

10-15-25, Wednesday.

My mom messaged while I was out walking and asked if she could speak with her best friend about the surgery. I said yes in the form of this following text message:

“I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about that. I’m ok with telling others if friends and family. This is a story that God is writing. He deserves all the glory. I am nothing but a willing participant in the orchestration of what God is working on. Hope that makes sense.”

I was trying to think about what was on my mind today and as I was climbing into bed I remembered the phase I learned about long ago and loved it. I heard a pastor on the radio give a sermon on glorifying God in all that you do. He said the Latin phrase was Soli Deo Gloria. I loved that phrase so much I drafted it into many fire sprinkler shop drawings during my time in the contracting field. It was a very small text on the TTB or on a wall or section detail. It was a fun way to help me remember to honor God by performing well at work and trying, to some degree, to be a good example of a Christian man in the workplace. Soli deo Gloria. All for the glory of God:

Another Soli Deo Gloria example is our Trail Life USA Troop at Christ Community Church. I’ve had the opportunity to help serve alongside many awesome dads and God gets the glory for our success as being named one of the top growing troops in the nation. I never felt qualified or equipped to be part of that growth. I can still barely tie knots! God’s hand was working through many of us dads to do that. We are in Omaha and God continues to do awesome work in our city.

Donating the kidney – Soli Deo Gloria.

You know, I may have just landed on what I should get for a tattoo!  Been pondering that for a better part of 15 years. Perhaps this Latin phrase will make the list. I’m glad I was reminded of this little revelation from 20 years ago.
