Captain’s Log: 18 days post-kidney transplant…
Recovery from the Oct 22nd kidney transplant continues to go well. Better than I expected.
Even a doctor who saw me in the hospital after surgery and then saw me at my first follow-up visit had to do a double take like, “are you really the same dude I saw last week?” I asked him to reenact it so I could record it, but he declined.
The pain is minimal, manageable, but every so often ‘it’ reminds me, “hey, here is some pain where the doctor added a kidney.”
I routinely have blood draws done to check for a variety of kidney function levels. As well as meet with doctors, dieticians, and ‘the pharmacy guy’ (can I call him ‘my chemist’?). These checkups have all been positive.
They estimated 4-6 week recovery with a variety of restrictions and to dos like drink lots of water and walk walk walk.
