- Took a shower for the first time.
- Hopefully it was the last oxycontin pill I’ll take. With regular Tylenol and the muscle relaxant, pain is near the 3-4 scale and stabilized so I can walk and do pretty much what I need for walking around. Productive coughing more now.
- Walked outside today.
- My family came over to watch the Husker game. Was loud and didn’t rest during that time, but wouldn’t want it any other way.
- My friend Josh appeared in my story and I had to send him a thank you text for stopping into my room to say hello and see a friendly face. Josh and his wife were part of our community group at church a handful of years ago. He said he worked nights at UNMC, but didn’t really know what floor he worked on or what his specialty was. Hearing his familiar voice late that night was really awesome and uplifting. This was a small world moment where God showed up to bless me.
- My daughter wanted to see my incisions – during dinner no less. I did not choose to share that sight with all at the dinner table.
- The next big step in healing will be the next bowel movement. Never thought that would be a suitable prayer subject. But “ask for anything in my name…” ok I will.
- Getting some of the plumbing stopped up is a typical condition when surgery and pain medication are in play. With many nurses in the family, I was pre-warned of this likelihood. My coworker also mentioned this could be a difficult part of the recovery process.
