Other Stories: He Donated a Kidney to a Stranger

David never met the man who would carry his kidney into a new life. He didn’t need to. In January 2024, he walked into an operating room in Chicago to give away a piece of himself to a total stranger, no name, no face, no promise of a thank you. Days later, he was climbing four flights of stairs back to his own apartment. Weeks later, he was back on the volleyball court as if nothing had ever left him.

What David did not know then was how far that single decision would travel. His kidney set off a chain, one gift pulling another gift behind it, until strangers he would never meet were given a second chance at life. That is the math that does not add up anywhere but in the economy of grace, where one just man giving one just kidney multiplies into something none of us can fully trace.
